New Name, Same Mission: SBCHBC is now Southern Brazoria County Homeschool Graduation (SBCHG).
President
Hi, I’m Ashley, a homeschooling mom of three. This is our seventh year, and it’s been such a rewarding journey. My husband, George, served in the Army, and while we’ve lived all over, homeschooling has given our family the consistency we’ve loved most. I co-own Wild Roots Photography with my best friend, manage a 4-H group, and love volunteering alongside my kids. I’m passionate about encouraging other homeschool families and honored to be part of this year’s graduation committee.
I’m also incredibly proud to now have a homeschool graduate who has gone on to attend Texas State University, which makes being part of this year’s committee even more meaningful.
Vice President
I am Melissa Torres. I spent seventeen years in public education as a secondary orchestra director and a dozen as a homeschool mom. I am a proud parent of two homeschool grads, Melody, class of 2022, and Dustin, class of 2025, who both also graduated from Brazosport College and are currently working on higher degrees.
When I’m not teaching music at Masters Academy of Fine Arts, directing handbells at Covenant EPC, volunteering with 4H, or cooking at HEB, I am usually curled up with my iPad and a cat on my lap or busy crafting something.
My homeschooling journey has been amazing and I am so greatful for the villagers that helped and inspired my family on our paths and am proud to have been a piece of the puzzle for those of you who have trusted me with your children too.
Treasurer
Hi, I’m Jenay! I’ve been homeschooling for over 12 years and have three kids. This year was especially meaningful for our family as our oldest son graduated, making it a bittersweet milestone. My husband, Caleb, and I love traveling with our kids and making the most of everyday adventures together.
Alongside homeschooling, I also work in photography, which gives me a creative outlet and allows me to connect with so many wonderful families. I’m honored to be part of this committee and excited to help create a meaningful and memorable graduation experience for our seniors.
Secretary
Natalie Spurlock is a homeschooling mother of four children, ages 16, 14, 13, and 6. She and her husband are faithful members of the Brazoria Church of Christ, where faith and family are central to their household. Natalie is passionate about encouraging and supporting homeschooling families while helping create meaningful opportunities and experiences for students within the homeschool community.
In addition to homeschooling her children, Natalie works with The Oak Financial Group as a Life Agent and Consultant. She is honored to serve as Secretary for the Homeschool Graduation Committee and looks forward to helping celebrate and support graduating students and their families throughout this important milestone.
Director of Events
I’m Anelle—wife to my best friend, Trevor, and mom to 8 kids ages 27-13. We’ve been homeschooling for 24 years, and it’s been an incredible journey watching each of our kids grow into who they’re meant to be.
I’m passionate about Jesus, my family, homeschooling, and supporting parents in choosing the path that best suits their children.
When we’re not doing school, I’m usually out on the homestead, supporting our kids in all their extracurriculars, being involved in 4H, or participating in some community activities.
I’m so excited to be part of the Southern Brazoria County HS Baccalaureate Graduation Committee again and can’t wait to celebrate the class of 2026!
